Industrial laundry services operates to serve anyone with laundering uniforms and other materials used in bio manufacturing, film emulsion, medical devices, optics, pharmaceutical and semi-conductor industries. Industrial Laundry can be anything from uniforms, gowns and coats, table linens, bed linens, clean room apparel, and treated mops or shop towels.
Industrial Laundry Stages of Operation
Soiled Retrieval: Laundry workers collect the soiled laundry from a laundry chute where it is the transferred to the laundry facility.
Soil Sorting: The retrieved laundry is then sorted according to item type. This step is vital because due to heavy or biohazardous stains such as blood or feces, wash times can differ in length because the use of more stronger formulas may be needed.
Washing: A certified washer operator then weighs the sorted industrial laundry according to the machine's load weight limit. Washer operators use the term "WATCH" when performing the proper wash strategy; "WATCH" stands for Water quality, mechanical Agitation, Time, Chemical concentration and Heat. The cleaner the water, the fresher the chemicals will be, resulting in cleaner laundry. Mechanical agitation allows the laundries surface area to be exposed to the water and chemicals; also, this helps to dislodge stains. Heat helps activate the chemicals to react with the stains; the longer the laundry is in contact with the heat, the cleaner it will be.
Processing: The clean linen is now dried ironed and folded after being removed from the driers. Making sure that the air temperature is carefully controlled ensures that the laundry will not be over dried, creating a fire hazard or damp and under dried. After the linen is then dried, heavy steamrollers are used to dry and press out wrinkles from the linen.
Packaging: Individual orders can be filled out upon request for the need of clean linen. Any left over linen that is not needed is stored in a facility reserved for clean laundry.
Distribution: Trained delivery persons will deliver the clean linen to places like hospitals or any other industrial, commercial, governmental, retail or service oriented organization.
